Tuesday, June 4, 2024, Undip Faculty of Engineering officially released the Antawirya Team to compete in national and international energy-efficient car competitions this year. The release event took place in the Lobby Floor 1 of the Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo Building.
This year, Antawirya plans to take part in two major competitions, namely the Shell Eco Marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2024 which will be held at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit on July 2-7, 2024, and the 2024 Energy-Efficient Car Contest which will be held at the Ancol Formula-E Circuit by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology on October 24-30, 2024.
M. Robith Al Anam, Non-Technical Manager of Antawirya, revealed that there are several developments carried out by the Antawirya team to be able to face the two major competitions. “We continue to develop (the prototype), starting from the engine we modify so that fuel consumption becomes more efficient, then we optimize the frame so that it is lighter in weight. And also in the Electric Vehicle motor and controller we optimize,” said Robith.
Zarir Athaullah, Antawirya General Manager, admitted that he was quite optimistic about the achievements that the Antawirya team would achieve this year. He is sure that his team can get first or second place in this year’s competition. “So far, we are very confident that we can improve our podium results, maybe on podium one or podium two in 2024,” he said.
Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of Undip, Prof. Dr.rer.nat Heru Susanto, S.T, M.M., M.T., gave his full support to the Antawirya Team. He hopes that the Antawirya Team will continue to innovate in the future. “Trying to achieve an achievement is important, but even if we don’t get it, it’s not a failure that needs to be mourned. Because innovation is truly an ongoing process,” said Prof. Heru in his speech.
In line with Prof. Heru, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Undip, Prof. Dr. Jamari, S.T, M.T, hopes that the Antawirya Team can achieve the desired achievement and always maintain their safety while competing. “Our message is that achievement is important, but there is something much more important, namely safety, your safety wherever you go,” said the Dean.
Head of the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Study Program, Dr. Rifky Ismail, S.T, M.T, also advised the Antawirya team to always maintain sportsmanship and achieve better results than the previous year. “Be enthusiastic in participating in the competition with sportsmanship, learn from the opportunities you get, and hopefully you can go home with the best, better than last year,” he said.
