Scientific Articles Best Graduates of Undip Mechanical Engineering Masters Win “Hot Paper” on the Web of Science
Muhammad Imam Ammarullah, Best Graduate of Undip Mechanical Engineering Master at the 165th Graduation
Another proud achievement was carved out by alumni of Diponegoro University Mechanical Engineering. Launching from an announcement on the official website of the publisher of the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI) https://www.mdpi.com/about/announcements/3891, a scientific article written by Muhammad Imam Ammarullah, the best graduate of the Master of Mechanical Engineering at Diponegoro University on his th Graduation 165 were selected as “Hot Papers” according to Web of Science data.
The announcement, published on May 23, 2022, explains that “Hot Papers” are scientific articles published in the last two years and received sufficient citations until the end of January 2022 to place them in the top 0.1% of the most cited scientific articles. . The Web of Science is the most trusted database of scientific articles in the world. For Indonesia itself, the Web of Science is a reference together with Scopus to see a journal that has good quality indexed in both databases.
Imam explained that his scientific article entitled “Tresca Stress Simulation of Metal-on-Metal Total Hip Arthroplasty during Normal Walking Activity” published in Materials (a scientific journal published by MDPI) is one of the results of a total of 14 scientific articles published by Thesis research. while he was studying at the Master of Mechanical Engineering, Diponegoro University under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Jamari, S.T., M.T. (Main Advisor) and Dr. Mohammad Tauviqirrahman, S.T., M.T. (Co. Advisor). The article itself can be accessed via https://www.mdpi.com/1996-1944/14/24/7554.
The man from Palembang, South Sumatra also mentioned that his article was published on December 9, 2021, and as of June 15, 2022, his article had been cited 43 times according to Google Schoolar, 27 times according to Scopus, and 33 times according to Web of Science. This high statistic for a scientific article that has only been published for about 6 months is an extraordinary statistic and shows the impact of the research carried out for the contribution of science. This is also inseparable from the collaboration between institutions in the research that Imam did in collaboration with the University of Sriwijaya and the University of Twente. The list of authors in this scientific article is Muhammad Imam Ammarullah, Ilham Yustar Afif, Mohamad Izzur, Maula, Tri Indah Winarni, Mohammad Tauviqirrahman, Imam Akbar, Hasan Basri, Emile van der Heide, and Jamari.
This scientific article, written by a man who was born on April 14, 1999, studies the selection of the right local metal material to be used for metal-on-metal bearings for artificial hip joints by investigating the Tresca stress from the calculation results with a computational program. The results of his findings are expected to be a reference for surgeons in choosing the best metal materials available in the domestic market for use in patients who have serious joint problems and require hip joint replacement surgery. The choice of this material is crucial so that the implants that have been placed can last a long time and minimize postoperative complications.
“As an academic, I hope that what I am researching will not only end up as an administrative requirement, but more than that so that it can be useful and have an impact, one of which is for the advancement of medical devices in Indonesia,” said the man who is currently also a lecturer. in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Pasundan.
